VINTAGE KODAK BROWNIE HAWKEYE FLASH MODEL CAMERA WITH FLASH ATTACHMENT shelf
This is a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye Flash Model camera with its accompanying flash unit. I got this at an estate auction in a bundle of cameras. It's a Bakelite box camera that takes 6x6cm images on 620 film, produced by Kodak in the USA and France between 1949 and 1961. The Flash Model specifically dates from 1950 onwards. The camera has a fixed-focus lens and a rotary shutter, offering both instantaneous (around 1/40 sec) and Bulb (long exposure) modes. It is known for its simplicity, with minimal controls="controls" beyond the shutter button and film advance knob. The Brownie Hawkeye Flash Model is often categorized within the Streamline Moderne design style, a late form of Art Deco emphasizing smooth surfaces and horizontal lines. While designed for 620 film, it can often be adapted to use 120 film with some modifications or by using re-spooled 120 film onto 620 spools
