RARE Fred Press Vintage Mid Century Bust Sculpture Greek Hercules as Child Youth
*See my additional listing for the matching bust of young Circe*RARE vintage Mid-century bust sculpture of the Greek demigod Hercules in his youth. The sculptor is the multi award-winning Fred Press (1919 - 2012) and this stunning piece is part of a series of busts imaging Sculptures of Myths and The Zodiac. This piece gives us a young teen boy, wide eyes with lips parted, hair tamed with a head tie, and looking forward innocently. His neck is elongated and sits on a classically shaped base which it joins to become part of the sculpture. It is signed on the left lower rim of the base - FRED PRESS ©️. This piece is fully intact with no major damage. There is a chip in the base and the piece has some chipping and surface cracking to the white plaster coating. All of these little imperfections just lend to his ancient Greek persona. Please see pictures for examples of the wear & chip. It measures approximately 9H x 4W x 5D. The base is about 3.5 in diameter.
